Full review
Frase has positioned itself as a content brief and AI writing platform that takes AEO seriously. The core workflow: enter a target topic, Frase analyzes the top 20 results and the LLM responses for that topic, generates a comprehensive content brief, and helps your writer (human or AI-assisted) produce a draft that hits the structural and entity-coverage requirements for citation.
Where Frase stands out for AEO is in the brief generation. Briefs include question-based heading suggestions, recommended FAQ topics, entity coverage requirements, and word-count targets backed by analysis of cited LLM responses for the target topic. For writers and content managers running serious content programs, the briefs save 1-2 hours of research per article.
The AI writer is competent but not best-in-class. Most teams use Frase for the briefs and outline, then hand off to a human writer (or to Claude, ChatGPT, or another general-purpose LLM) for the actual draft. That hybrid workflow has produced strong results for content teams we have spoken with.
Limitations: the AI writer can produce generic copy without heavy editing, and the platform is more focused on production than measurement. Pair with Otterly.AI or Athena HQ for post-publish AEO tracking. For content teams producing 10+ pieces per month, Frase's brief tooling alone justifies the subscription.
